The South Africa I Know

The South Africa I Know

From where I'm from,  I can  speak or shout as loud as I can but my voice is only heard by those who aren't willing to listen.

Those whose ears are available to listen don't have the resources to help me enforce change.  But those who have the resources that can help me change lives don't have the ears to listen.

South Africa to me is like a prison that gives people the liberty to do anything "but to a certain extent".  A prison that only those with deep pockets call the shots and expect us to jump when they see fit,  they make decisions on their own without realizing that somewhere in a Township someone is losing their job because of them, someone is looking for a job but because these days you get a job based on the relationship you have with those in charge they remain isolated with no one to talk to.

South Africa is a good country,  a place of opportunities,  a place that empowers the youth and makes sure that they do something with their lives,  they give out budgets,  spending thousands or millions on youth empowerment projects.  Although I've never seen a single cent working in my community,  the youth gets deeper and deeper into substance abuse and yet somewhere somehow a budget came out to help limit drug addicts.

South Africa is a home for those whose bank accounts keep on increasing with an additional zero every year but to us whose depend on what's given to us,  South Africa is a land to harvest so that we can be able to get food.

It's been years,  to be specific since 2010, they've been issuing out tenders and budgets to help with development in community infrastructure,  but to this day we don't have proper housing in my community,  to this day we don't have adequate sanitation and electricity,  we use illegal connections but someone in parliament, has been given a budget to help eliminate illegal connections and make proper electricity connections,  but I don't see a single cent working in my community.

A very close friend of mine made me aware of something,  he said "I've been told to finish my matrix,  I did that got no where,  I was told to further my education and go to varsity,  I went there,  I have my degree in my hand but still,  nothing has changed".

What I've realized is that, some of us don't have access to certain resources and are not exposed to certain opportunities which is why we are disadvantaged.

But how does this happen,  funds are issued out to help us but somewhere along the way they just disappear and who cares because no one seems to be doing a follow up?

We have ministers,  counselors who are giving great speeches in their events,  but they've never hosted a single event about youth empowerment.

How can there be change I'm these small townships if those who are living high who are supposed to be implementing change seem to be sleeping on top of resources and the state is absent enjoying their time to wake them up?
