WHO WILL FILL THEIR SHOES?

I was with a friend of mine this other day, as we walking, I began to tell her that I’m a man of many talents and many abilities but there’s only one thing I can’t do , but I would love to do it with all my heart, and she said what is it, with a smile of passion I replied- Singing. She laughed and I said to her don’t laugh I’m serious, I want to learn how to sing with all my heart, the day I learn how to sing, people are going to cry trust me. And I started singing, she laughed a lot, and I asked her the question can you sing? she was like no, I can’t. And I said to her do you listen to RnB music? She said yes and I said who’s your favorite artists and she replied-Alicia Keys. And I said ok, I love her too.

I became silent for a bit and said to her, do you wish you could sing? She said no. and I said to her, people are growing up, and by growing up I mean people are getting old, they’re aging. Time flies and waits for no man.

I said all these people we look upon, all these people we look at, we listen to their music, we listen to their poems, we watch their movies, and we read their books. They are getting old and will eventually die, when they dead, who will fill their shoes? If there’s no Alicia Keys to sing, who will sing like her?

No one she said, correct I shouted! I continued to say. As young as we are now, we are the rising Bill Gates, the rising Steve Jobs, Will Smith, James Bond, Vin Diesel, Alicia Keys, Adele, Beyoncé, you can name them all.

We have to start preparing ourselves for their shoes, because if the nation decides to sit down and not do anything, and not unleash their potential or ability, if they decide not to sing, not to act, not to write, what will the next generation read?, what will the next generation listen too?

Yes, we might have role models, we might have artists but we must not fly like the wind, seeking them, listening to them all the time and not doing anything, not feeling motivated to write our own songs, poems or act our own movies. We have to spend time to create a name for ourselves. Because all these people we watching on TV, we listening to on our smartphones, they’ve invested a lot of time into getting that song ready, into shooting that movie. You find yourself watching people who are living their dream while you sitting on top of yours.

Gone are the days where we are going to seek motivation, its time for us to be the motivation. Gone are the days we look for mentors, it’s time we become our own mentors, gone are the days we look for artists, we look for authors it’s time for us to tap into greatness, it’s time for us to sing our songs, it’s time for us to write our books.
